Background: Dental hypersensitivity (DH) is a condition that has been frequently found in the dental practice that is characterized by short, sharp pain arising from exposed dentine in response to stimuli typically thermal, tactile, osmotic or chemical. Conventional treatments include toothpastes, mouth washes, adhesive and resins, however most treatments are either ineffective or with limit effects. The use of lasers open a new dimension in the treatment of DH. The lasers that has been used for  treatment of sensitive teeth can be divided in to two  groups of middle output  and  low power lasers  that has proposed that the first group have the ability to seal dentinal tubules and  the second one have metabolic effects.
Material and Methods: data sources included electronic database of pubmed, science Direct and google scholar. Key words of "dental hypersensitivity (sensitive tooth)" and " Laser" " were used to access articles published between 1980 till 2012.
Results: results included 34 articles that full texts of 19 articles were accessible. according to the literature, treatment of DH with laser have more stable and longer effects but  choose of correct parameters is a key point in treatment procedure.
Conclusion: considering high prevelance of DH,it seems that laser can be helpful in the treatment procedure, of course more comprehensive studies is still needed.
