Working with medical laser equipment requires expertise and familiarity with the device. At exposure time on the patient, for diagnosis or treatment, the irradiation process must be performed by a physician. Due to the development of medical laser equipment, especially laser beauty and hair removal, its job market has been booming to the extent that non-physician persons have also entered to this profession. Laser safety training courses are one of the main and necessary trainings that every laser operator must be taken, but it is necessary and not sufficient because they must also have clinical knowledge too.
From September 2015 to March 2022, the training course on radiation protection in laser centers (Laser Safety Course) was held for 23550 person-hours, most of participant were active in the field of medical lasers, but there was no specific information about them. Since the April 2022 with a change in the procedure of registering and taking full specifications and checking the level of education and their orientation, results show that an alarm for the occurrence of laser beam accidents and there is contradiction with the principles of radiation protection, feasibility-optimization and ALARA principal.
