Medical associations in the United States and Europe are advocating for patients to be offered fallopian-tube removal during other abdominal surgeries. Two decades of research have shown that many ovarian cancer cases actually originate in the fallopian tubes, and removing them can effectively prevent the disease—especially since ovarian cancer is notoriously difficult to detect in its early stages. This procedure does not affect ovarian function and could save thousands of women's lives. However, the historical context of forced sterilizations in marginalized communities has made some healthcare professionals cautious about widely promoting the procedure.

سرطان تخمدان اغلب از جایی دیگر شروع میشود.
بر اساس خبری که در 5 آگوست 2026 در نشریه ی نیویورک تایمز به چاپ رسید، انجمنهای پزشکی در آمریکا و اروپا خواستار آن شدهاند که به بیماران (یعنی زنانی هستند که به هر دلیلی در حال انجام یک عمل جراحی در ناحیه شکم یا لگن هستند و کاندید فرزندآوری نیستند)، همزمان با سایر جراحیهای شکمی، گزینه برداشتن لولههای فالوپ نیز ارائه شود. دو دهه پژوهش نشان داده است که بسیاری از موارد سرطان تخمدان، در واقع از لولههای فالوپ آغاز میشوند و برداشتن آنها میتواند به طور مؤثری از این بیماری پیشگیری کند، بهویژه آنکه سرطان تخمدان در مراحل اولیه به سختی قابل تشخیص است. این روش تأثیری بر عملکرد تخمدانها ندارد و میتواند جان هزاران زن را نجات دهد. با این حال، چالش عقیمسازیهای اجباری در برخی گروههای آسیبپذیر، باعث شده که برخی متخصصان در ترویج گسترده این روش محتاط باشند.
