Aims and Scopes
The Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair (former “Lasers in Medicine”) is a peer review and quarterly English publication of the Yara Institute of Iran.
Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair (ASWTR) is an international, open access peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing and disseminating cutting-edge research across the broad spectrum of regenerative medicine and therapy. This journal provides a platform for the publication of high-quality original research, reviews, and clinical studies that explore the interdisciplinary frontiers of cell therapy, stem cell biology, molecular genetics, medical biochemistry, tissue engineering, and molecular medicine. A key focus lies on the pathogenesis, prevention, and innovative treatment of acute and chronic skin wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, with an emphasis on translating fundamental discoveries into clinical practice. Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair also special interest in the pathogenesis and management of chronic inflammatory disease such as diabetes, osteoarthritis, and related comorbidities. Finally, the journal welcomes investigations into the therapeutic applications of light biology and laser therapy, such as photobiomodulation, for skin treatment and rejuvenation.
 
Editorial and Publication Policies
Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair operates as a gold open access journal, making all published articles immediately and permanently available online for free under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. We are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure scholarly excellence, originality, and methodological soundness. Authors must confirm their work is original, not under consideration elsewhere, and that all potential conflicts of interest are disclosed. Compliance with these policies is mandatory for all authors, reviewers, and editors engaged with the journal. The following policies apply to all authors, reviewers, and editors involved with the journal.
Authorship
All individuals listed as an author must have made substantial logical contributions to the work. All authors are expected to take public responsibility for the content of the manuscript.
	- Authorship Criteria: To be listed as an author, an individual must fulfill all the following criteria:
 
	- Contribution: Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
 
	- Approval: Approval of the final version to be published.
 
	- Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
 
	- Author Contributions: The contributions of all authors must be described upon submission using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) model to ensure transparency.
 
	- Corresponding Author Responsibilities: The corresponding author is the primary contact for the journal and is responsible for ensuring all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript, and for managing communication throughout the publication process.
 
 
 Plagiarism
 Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and constitutes a serious violation of publication ethics.
	- Definition: Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
	
		- Directly copying text from other sources without attribution.
 
		- Copying ideas, images, or data from other sources without attribution.
 
		- Reusing text from one's own previous publications without attribution (text recycling).
 
	
	 
	- Screening: All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using text-similarity software. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected immediately. In cases of plagiarism discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction or retract the paper.
 
 
 Competing Interests (Conflict of Interest)
To ensure objectivity and transparency, all parties involved must declare any competing interests.
	- 
 Scope: A competing interest is anything that could interfere with, or be perceived as interfering with, the objective presentation, review, or publication of research. These can be financial (e.g., funding, employment, stock ownership) or non-financial (e.g., personal relationships, academic affiliations, political or religious convictions).
 
	- Declaration: Authors must disclose all potential competing interests at the time of submission. Editors and reviewers must also declare any interests that could affect their impartiality and recuse themselves from the process if necessary.
 
Ethical Requirements for Human and Animal Studies
 Research involving human subjects or animals must be conducted to the highest ethical standards.
	- Human Subjects Research: For any study involving human participants, authors must:
	
		- Obtain prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or equivalent ethics committee.
 
		- Provide the name of the approving committee and approval number.
 
		- Report in the manuscript how informed consent was obtained from participants.
 
	
	 
	- Animal Research: Studies involving vertebrate animals or higher invertebrates must:
	
		- Have been conducted in accordance with internationally accepted standards.
 
		- Receive prior approval from an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent ethics committee.
 
		- Provide the name of the committee and relevant permit numbers in the manuscript.
 
	
	 
 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Declaration
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the research and writing process must be transparently disclosed.
	- 
 Authors: Authors must clearly declare in their manuscript any use of AI tools (e.g., large language models) in the study or in the preparation of the manuscript contents. Authors are ultimately responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work.
 
Types of Articles
Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair welcomes the submission of high-quality manuscripts in various formats. The journal publishes the following types of articles:
	- 
 Original Research Articles: These represent detailed reports of novel, significant research findings. They should include a structured abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Author Contributions and references.
 
	- Review Articles: These are comprehensive, critical surveys of existing literature and current progress in a specific field. They should provide new insights or interpretations and are typically solicited by the editors, though unsolicited proposals are welcome. The corresponding author of the review article must be author of at least three published articles appearing in the references. The review article consists of an unstructured English Abstract, Introduction, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Author Contributions and References
 
	- Systematic Reviews: These are rigorous reviews that identify, evaluate, and synthesize all relevant studies on a specific research question using a predefined methodology. Systematic reviewa consists of English Abstract (structured), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Author Contributions and References.
 
	- Case Reports: These describe novel, unusual, or educational clinical cases that provide significant new insights into disease mechanisms, diagnosis, or therapy. They must include patient consent. Case reports consists of unstructured English Abstracts, Introduction, a Case Report, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Author Contributions and References.
 
	- Short Communications: These are concise articles that present preliminary or limited-scale research of immediate interest. They are shorter in length than original research articles.
 
	- Letters to the Editor: These provide comments on previously published articles in the journal or address relevant, timely topics in the field. It consists of unstructured English Abstracts, Main Text with short informative heading without subheadings, Acknowledgements, Author Contributions and References.
 
	- Editorials: These are invited commentaries or opinions on key issues, new discoveries, or journal policies, typically written by members of the editorial board.
 
 
 Author Contribution Statement
 To ensure transparency and accountability, Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair requires a detailed Author Contribution Statement for all submitted manuscripts. This statement must clearly describe the specific contributions of each author to the research and preparation of the article.
 
Requirements:
	- The statement must be provided during the manuscript submission process.
 
	- It must be included in the manuscript file, typically before the 'References' section.
 
	- All listed authors must meet the authorship criteria as defined by the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors).
 
 
 Format:
We strongly recommend using theCRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) model to define contributions. Please specify the roles of each author using the standard categories in a format similar to the example below:

A cover letter is mandatory for all submissions. It must be uploaded as a separate file and include the following points:
	- A statement that the manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
 
	- Confirmation that all authors have approved the submission.
 
	- A brief explanation of the significance and novelty of your work (optional).
 
	- Suggestions for potential reviewers (optional).
 
 
 Manuscript preparation

1. Title Page
The title page should be submitted as a separate file and include:

 Full Article Title: Concise, descriptive, and accurately reflecting the manuscript's content. Avoid abbreviations.

 Author Information: Full first and last names of all authors (with degrees).

 Author Affiliations: The institution(s) where the work was conducted, including department, university, city, and country.
 
	- 
 Corresponding Author: Clearly indicated with full contact information (email, institutional address, phone).

 Abstract: A single paragraph, typically 150-250 words, summarizing the study's purpose, key findings, and main conclusions. It should be self-contained without references or undefined abbreviations.

3. Main Text Structure (for Original Research Articles)
Organize the main body of your manuscript according to the standard IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) format.

 Describe the study design, participants, materials, and procedures in sufficient detail to allow for replication.

 Include statements regarding ethical approval (ethical number) for studies involving humans or animals.
	 
For studies involving human participants, authors must state that the research was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and approved by an appropriate ethics committee. Informed consent must be obtained from all participants.
For animal studies, authors must confirm that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant guidelines and were approved by an institutional animal care and use committee.
Clinical Trial Registration
All clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry (such as IRCT or ClinicalTrials.gov) before participant enrollment. The trial registration number must be provided at the end of the abstract.
 
  
 Results
A maximum of 6 tables and figures combined is permitted.
Figures must be submitted in TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.
Each table and figure must be cited in numerical order within the main text (e.g., see Figure 1, Table 1).
Figures and tables should be embedded in the manuscript file within the Results section where they are first mentioned and figures must also be attached as a separate file at the time of submission. Ensure that all data presented in graphs are clearly labeled and legible.

Acknowledgments: Recognize individuals, groups, or institutions that contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship. Additionally, all authors must include a conflict of interest statement. You may use the following sample statement if applicable:
"The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper."
Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific writing
 The use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) must be declared in this section. State the tool and purpose. Authors are fully responsible for the content.
 Sample: "During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Tool Name] for [Purpose]. The authors have reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for the published content."
References: All manuscripts must use the Vancouver citation style (numeric style). Please adhere to the following guidelines meticulously.
 
General Formatting & Rules
Numbering: References must be numbered consecutively in the order they first appear in the text.
In-text citation: Use Arabic numerals (e.g., ...as shown in previous studies. (1, 2)).
Journal Titles: Use the standard abbreviated journal title as used in PubMed/Index Medicus.
Authors: List all authors if six or fewer. If there are seven or more authors, list the first six followed by et al. Punctuation: A period should follow the author list and the article title.

Each figure and table must be accompanied by a concise, self-contained legend that allows it to be fully understood without reference to the main text.
For Figure Legends:

 Include a brief title followed by a detailed description of all symbols, abbreviations, and error bars.

 Mention the sample size (n) for statistical representations and specify the statistical test used if applicable (e.g., *p < 0.05).

Corresponding authors will receive page proofs for final approval before publication. This is the last opportunity to correct typographical errors or factual inaccuracies.

 Proofs must be returned within 48 hours of receipt.

 Only minor, essential corrections are permitted at this stage.
 
	- 
 Significant alterations or rewrites will not be accepted.
 
	- 
 Please ensure all corrections are clearly marked and communicated via the method specified in the proofing email.
 
 
Failure to respond within the given timeframe may result in delays to publication or the article being published as it appears in the proof.
Pay for publication
To ensure your research is widely accessible and to cover the costs associated with the editorial process, peer-review management, production, and long-term archiving, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC), from March 20, 2026, Adv. Skin Wound Tissue Repair levies an article-processing charge.  The APC is set at 10.000.000 Rls for home authors (Iranian authors) and 100 USD $ for all international authors. The APC is only due upon formal acceptance of the manuscript for publication.
Waivers and Financial Assistance
We are committed to supporting the scientific community. Corresponding authors from low-income countries or those facing genuine financial hardship may (including Iranian authors) request a full or partial waiver of the APC. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis.
